Then and Now

Our church was organized in 1854 in what was then Prairie County, AR.  It is said to be the oldest church in the county.  The first building was made of logs and was burned by Northern Soldiers during the War between the North and South.   After the war, the U.S. Government gave the church $150.00 toward constructing a new church building.  A new one room building was constructed.

In 1950, the church voted to construct a new 30 x 60 ft building with Sunday School rooms inside.  After several delays, the foundation was poured in 1954.  The building with 5 Sunday School rooms was constructed with volunteers, and materials purchased with love offerings.  It was dedicated in October 1, 1956.

Future additions were:

  •   1973  20 x 40 ft. Fellowship Hall

  •   1979  40 x 85 ft brick auditorium

  •   1985   Fellowship Hall & 6 classrooms
